Pretty good food, the reason I rated it a four is because of the price.
We arrived at this spot for lunch. my friend recommended this spot. Well, it was a winning. The staff members were very polite and we felt good. The meal was great. We enjoyed every moment and we shall absolutely come back again. Recommended.
Place was quiet when I showed up on Sunday, but it did start to pick up as I left. Good timing. Staff was helpful, especially when I ordered incorrectly. Spicy Ramen and 6 sushi, a couple of draft beers. Good price. And great food. Would go again. Now excuse me, I have to pass out.... Oh and no they don't fold your chopstick wrapper into a rest, that's all me, baby.
Cozy place, very fresh sushi and reasonable prices.
Always my favorite sushi place in SLO. They have great chef specials and special rolls!
I love Kumiko. The service is always great and the inside is always clean. My go to spot for sushi in San Luis Obispo!
One of the best Japanese restaurants in the County. Like all our restaurants they are trying hard to survive thru the pandemic. Give them a try, they are great
Great sushi spot in SLO. They have tables set up for service outside but their take out is the same quality as you'd get in the restaurant.
Eaten here a few times because it's close to work. Generally takes longer than it should. It's also more expensive than it should be, in my opinion. I also ordered takeout, asked if the salad was in the bag, they said yes, and when I got home found out it wasn't. Small things but in general I think there are better places to go
Inconsistent food. Table service is lacking. I've never say at the sushi bar so maybe that experience would be better.
Good food, service leaves something to be desired but the food out weighs the lack of good service.
We went there for a late lunch and got the lunch special 'bento box'. That is it in the picture, good deal, nice assortment of goodies. 3 kinds of Japanese pickled vegetables, miso, rice, assorted tempura, cutlet, cut roll. We almost could have gotten one and split it. They also have a really good deal on happy hour. Nice neighborhood Japanese restaurant.Look farther down and you will see another picture I took of spicy Seafood Ramen and Spanish mackerel sashimi, they were terrific.Edit:Went back again for that Spanish mackerel combo and more, wow. That mackerel was one of the best fish dishes we had ever eaten. The entire fish is prepared as sushi/sashimi, and the bones and head are fried up. We at every bit. My compliments to the chefs. This is now my favorite restaurant in town.
Their miso soup is very good.
Good sushi! Great atmosphere.
The sushi is fresh, happy hour every evening makes it affordable to "drop in" with the kids for a few rolls. The staff is very friendly, the establishment clean and engaging.
Amazing food, tried the crunchy roll, some salmon roll and an Entree of ginger beef. The Ginger Beef entree is missing something to give it a intense flavor, however amazing! The sushi was incredible, and better than most places ive been to here in SLO. The Tempura cheesecake is great, the Tempura might confuse you, but its amazing and just adds texture. Will come again sometime
Wonderful Japanese food. Very fresh and wonderfully prepared.
Love this sushi restaurant! The fish is always fresh, and they are kid friendly. I just wish their service was a little quicker. However the staff is always friendly so it's easy to wait.
Delicious food, and our server, Sarah, was excellent. We got the Combo B, which come with soup, salad, two entrees, and a side. One had beef teriyaki and pork cutlet, the other chicken cutlet and chicken teriyaki.I included pictures of our entrees, but forgot to take pictures of the rest.
The food and service were above my expectations. I surely loved the vibes of this restaurant. Amazing place to take my family out for dinner.
Crazy experience. I was visiting town, googled Sushi near me and this place had 4 plus starts. So I drove to it. It was in a big shopping mall type area. Then the craziness began. Both the sushi chef behind the sushi bar and the waiter were of Hispanic heritage and nether spoke Japanese.2 of the 3 item on the menu were not available. Food was mediocre and service was average.I would never go there again.
Really nice atmosphere. I’ve ordered ahead for pickup and I’ve eaten there too. Staff has always been great. My favorites are the superstar roll, popcorn lobster or popcorn scallop roll are both great, Kumiko wrap is da bomb, and their Yaki Soba is super good too. I always leave there stuffed!
More of a 3.5 rating. Kumi Ko is alright. Pricier than Yanagi but not much better in terms of service or food. Their fried rice is pretty darn tasty though.
Sushi was good. The service was some of the worst I've ever had.
I love the mochi mango ❤️
The staff is one of the friendliest staff around. They take the time to talk with you, say Hi when you walk in and Goodbye when you leave. I know most of them by first name, the owner Bruce comes out and talks with his customers, getting to know them and how their dining is going. The sushi rolls are excellent as well as the main dishes.
Kumiko (Kumi Ko?) was a good choice for a Sunday lunch. The Sushi and Sashimi lunch combo was a substantial amount of food for one person, and it all tasted fresh and satisfying. The restaurant is nicely decorated, the servers are helpful and attentive, and the atmosphere is comfortable.
My favorite sushi restaurant in town. The servers and chefs are great and they always have a special roll. Right now, it's the No Name Roll and it's amazing. A roll, breaded in katsu breading and then cooked to perfection. Get one of their specials and you get a miso and a salad.
Today was the 3rd time trying the spicy ramen hoping that it may have improved...sadly, it has not.The noodles were soggy. The broth lacked flavor. Very disappointing overall. If you are a fan of ramen, go to Kuma!
Very good quality food good atmosphere end relaxing. Experience chefs
Clean environment, courteous and prompt service. I frequent for lunch due to its convenient location and reasonable price. The sushi is fresh, well made and presented.
This place was pretty good. I'd definitely come back. I was enticed by the pictures of that fire roll that I saw on the reviews but I didn't end up getting it. Lol. But everything was still delicious. Got shrimp tempura (it was a nice size serving for an app, since I didn't share, Haha) and the Mexican roll. I forgot to take pictures because I was starving:( sorry guys. BUT I did take a picture of my friends dish. The bulgogi bowl. She said it was very good, but the rice wasn't very sticky. Prices were normal. Sorry I don't have much more to say. I'd come back though. And recommend it.
Food was fantastic so was our service.
Excellent service, the waitress hosting us was kind and talkative. The food came quickly and was absolutely delicious, portion sizes are great too. Definitely coming back the next time I'm in this city.
Very good place to eat Japanese food. Service is very good..
Great food and great service. It isn't usually too busy, not sure why!
Specialty rolls seem to be their key to success. I enjoyed the nigiri dish 8 different pieces fish each with a unique taste and texture. The quality and freshness was very high. The service was also very good.
Make sure you check your take out before leaving. Soup lid wasn't sealed and soaked everything. My two side dishes were missingUpgrading review because the food was excellent.
Best Sushi in SLO hands down
Amazing service and great food can't recommend this place enough.
Quality, delicious food with great presentation.
The simple tuna roll was fantastic. Big cuts of fish and rice at the perfect consistency. My other roll was pleasant but next time I'm going to stick with the simple rolls. I was not expecting that much tuna in that roll!
It's not too bad. They have some interesting menu items, but overall it's not much different from all the other sushi places in town.
Everything was delicious and large portions for the price. Great service as well. Always a great experience!
We had an amazing time at this spot. We liked the superb ambience and the meals. The staff members were super friendly. I am happy we ultimately managed to visit this spot.
Everything is yummy but my favorite is the deep fried cheesecake. Soo good. 😋
Awesome food
This place was wonderful. I ordered take out for my family and had a little of everything. The tempura was the best ice ever had. The miso soup awesome
Food was fresh and delicious. Beautifully presented. They have a large menu. Lots to choose from. Dessert was very good. I had the mango mochi ice cream. It was cut into pieces and had chocolate drizzle, whipped cream, and maraschino cherries. I highly recommend this place.
Fantastic lunch menu. All of new additions to the bento box options are worth checking out if you have not stopped in recently. It can get very busy some days but usually service is friendly and prompt.
